Being a mother is rewarding, challenging and beautiful. In honor of Mother’s Day, let’s reflect on some facts about this special day that may surprise you!
- The first Mother’s Day was declared by President Woodrow Wilson in 1914 after he was persuaded by activist Anna Jarvis to create the holiday. - For florists, this holiday is incredibly important. Mother’s Day accounts for twenty five percent of flower sales for the entire year, according to the Society of American Florists.
- According to Pew Research, the average age for a first time mom in the United States is now 27 years old. As women are delaying motherhood, the average age has steadily risen over the last decade.
