A Guide for Aspiring Entrepreneurs https://carepatrol.com/blog/how-do-senior-care-franchises-work/ Fri, 16 Aug 2024 11:00:40 +0000 https://carepatrol.com/?p=10048 The elderly population is on the rise, creating opportunities for new business models to take shape, such as senior care franchises. Many people ask, “How do senior care franchises work?” A senior care franchise works directly with families to help them find and decide which senior care solution can meet the needs of their elderly loved ones.

Now is the perfect time to invest in a senior care franchise, and if you are considering investing in one, CarePatrol should be at the top of your list. Becoming a CarePatrol senior care franchise owner can be a profitable and rewarding experience. Keep reading to learn more.

How Do Senior Care Franchises Work?

As the owner of a CarePatrol senior care franchise, you will help the loved ones of older adults find a senior care solution that meets their elderly family member’s specific needs.

To accomplish this, you will become an expert senior care advisor by learning about the various communities in your area. CarePatrol’s services are free to clients as the senior care facilities pay the CarePatrol franchisee, enabling you to advocate for the families and build strong relationships.

A Home-Based Business Model

With CarePatrol, you can work from home as a Local Senior Care Advisor. That is the remarkable thing about CarePatrol: You will not have to worry about overhead, payroll, or staffing until your business grows!

Senior Care Franchises Know Their Communities

When the time comes to transition an elderly loved one to a senior care facility, many families are not sure where to begin. They could research, call, and schedule numerous tours at the various facilities in their area, but that takes a significant amount of time.

This is where CarePatrol steps in. Franchise owners attain in-depth knowledge of their local assisted living communities and other senior care options and services. Then, they use this knowledge to help families make informed decisions for their loved ones.

How Franchise Owners Learn About Local Senior Care Communities

To provide your clients with the best care options, you will learn which amenities and skill sets each senior care community in your area can provide. You will be with the families every step of the way because when they visit a local senior care establishment, a CarePatrol executive accompanies them.

Besides touring the local senior care communities, you will have access to the performance reviews and track records of the communities CarePatrol already has contracts with. Once you access this information, you can quickly and easily determine the level of care that each facility provides.

Senior Care Options, Explained

The needs of older adults determine which facility will serve them best. As advisors, franchise owners learn the differences between the levels of care each type of facility can provide to better inform clients.

Independent Living Communities

An independent living community may be an excellent choice if an older adult is healthy but wants to live a maintenance-free life. These communities usually have on-site amenities and provide social activities.

Assisted Living

When an older adult cannot continue living independently, assisted living communities can help. These communities help manage medications and assist with grooming (e.g., bathing and getting dressed). In addition, older adults may receive snacks, meals, housekeeping, and laundry services—exact amenities vary from location to location.

Memory Care

If an older adult is living with any form of dementia, memory care is usually the best choice of care. Many of these communities offer medical care and ensure patients remain safely inside by securing the building’s exits and entrances.

Nursing Homes

When an older adult needs continuous medical care that cannot be provided with in-home services or in an assisted living facility, the best option is a nursing home.

In-Home Care

Sometimes, an older adult can take advantage of in-home care services provided by professional caregivers, certified home health care aides (HHAs), and registered nurses (RNs).

Senior Care Franchises Support Families

Once a loved one contacts CarePatrol for help, a Local Senior Care Advisor schedules a “Care Discovery” session. This session is typically a face-to-face meeting. However, we know that some people prefer a video meeting or a traditional phone call, both of which are fine.

The Care Discovery Session

During the discovery session, the advisor asks about the specific needs of the elderly loved one and the senior’s financial situation to help determine which senior care solutions are within their budget.

Research and Pre-Screening

The advisor researches and pre-screens the senior care options in the area. Then, they present the client with the top three matches.

A Personal Tour

The Local Senior Care Advisor provides a personal tour through the three recommended top senior living communities. These tours allow clients to speak with staff and see the accommodations while the advisor offers support and comfort.

In addition, the research and pre-screening process allows the advisor to answer many of the client’s questions, which displays their expertise in their local senior care communities.

We realize that clients must consider many factors when making their decisions. For this reason, CarePatrol’s Local Senior Care Advisors may help clients weigh their options. This is when an advisor’s expertise really makes a difference.

The Need for Senior Care Franchises Remains Strong

According to the Population Reference Bureau, the elderly population in the U.S. will increase by nearly 70% by 2060. In addition, experts project that by 2029, senior care market revenue will increase from $455 billion to more than $651 billion, making the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for this market 6.15%.

Many in this aging population will need to transition to a senior living community. As a CarePatrol franchisee, you can help these individuals and their families find the right care solution and make a profit!

Did You Know…Mother’s Day Edition! https://carepatrol.com/blog/did-you-knowmothers-day-edition/ Mon, 24 Apr 2023 17:34:36 +0000 https://carepatrol.com/blog/did-you-knowmothers-day-edition/ As we celebrate the woman who helped shape and inspire us into becoming the people we are today, let’s explore some fun facts about Mother’s Day that may surprise you.

  • Women are becoming mothers for the first time at a more advanced age than in the past. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that in 2020, the average age for a first time mom was 27.1 which was up from 24.9 years old in 2000.
  • The second Sunday of May is the day that the most phone calls are made, topping any other day of the entire year as people near and far are connecting with their mothers on this very special day.  A staggering 122 million calls are expected to occur!
  • Mother’s Day became an official holiday in 1914, as President Woodrow Wilson made the proclamation, giving people the opportunity to express love and reverence for the matriarchs of the country.
  • Americans are slightly more generous on Mother’s Day than Father’s Day, according to a 2019 YouGov poll.  Although 33% of those asked said they normally spend more money on Mother’s Day, 6% reported spending more on Father’s Day.  And in an effort to keep things fair, 26% of people polled said they spend the same amount of money for both holidays.
  • The word “mom” comes from the first sound that babies are able to say, which is the universal “ma” sound.  That is the reason that in many languages, this sound is reflected in the word chosen to be used for mother.

The relationship between mother and child is a special one.  If a change in your mother’s life causes growing concerns about her ability to remain independent at home, your local CarePatrol senior care advisor can help give you both peace of mind.  We understand the aging process and how health, social and financial concerns work together to influence outcomes.  We can help you find the right senior living solutions to honor your mom and help her thrive.

Franchising With CarePatrol https://carepatrol.com/blog/franchising-with-carepatrol/ Mon, 19 Apr 2021 19:59:27 +0000 https://carepatrol.com/blog/franchising-with-carepatrol/ How does CarePatrol work?

Luc Deslauriers: When it's no longer feasible to be cared for at home, CarePatrol senior advisors help locate the next level of senior living and care. We help people who need to be in independent living facilities, assisted living facilities, or memory care facilities. Senior living communities are a hard world to navigate. What we provide is a service that will help the families come up with the best, safest and most appropriate solution for them and we do this free of charge to the families.

How does the CarePatrol business side work?

Luc: Communities are looking to fill beds, so they are happy to pay a referral fee equal to one month’s rent. The referral fee varies based on the cost of the rent, so it can be anywhere from $3,000 to $15,000. Based on this model, it’s possible to run a business that helps the community and families free of charge but still has excellent income coming in for the CarePatrol franchise owner.

Is this a home-based business or one in an office setting?

Luc: CarePatrol is home-based.

How did COVID-19 impact senior care?

Luc: The length of quarantine played a huge role. People took their loved ones into quarantine with them and found that they weren't equipped to handle their long-term needs, which generated many inquiries to CarePatrol. Our franchise owners were prepared because of the extra training that we all did to adapt to this situation, allowing us to keep helping people.

How did CarePatrol handle the pandemic situation?

Luc: There was that initial panic when the world shut down in the spring of last year. When we realized that this was going to have some length to it, it was on us to adapt. We leveraged technology to deliver our business model effectively, opting for Zoom meetings rather than face-to-face meetings for tours. We have a video library with thousands of videos of facilities all over the country so we were able to do very effective virtual tours and then the facilities themselves really stepped up in developing protocols for a safe move-in experience. As of August 2020, our numbers increased month-to-month over our 2019 numbers.

CarePatrol Ranked A Top Franchise in Entrepreneur’s Highly Competitive 42nd Annual Franchise 500 https://carepatrol.com/blog/carepatrol-ranked-a-top-franchise-in-entrepreneurs-highly-competitive-42nd-annual-franchise-500/ Mon, 01 Feb 2021 21:10:27 +0000 https://carepatrol.com/blog/carepatrol-ranked-a-top-franchise-in-entrepreneurs-highly-competitive-42nd-annual-franchise-500/ Phoenix, AZ (February 1, 2021) – CarePatrol, the nation’s largest senior placement organization, announces their first ever ranking in Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500. CarePatrol is ranked 498 on the list.

The Franchise 500 has become a competitive measure for franchisors as well as a primary research tool for potential franchisees. CarePatrol’s position on the ranking is a testament to its strength as a franchise opportunity.

“We are incredibly honored to have CarePatrol recognized within such a respected list,” said J.J. Sorrenti, CEO of Best Life Brands, parent company to CarePatrol. “Given all the obstacles our entire franchise system had to overcome due to the pandemic, this ranking is a testament to the strength of our business model, and the resiliency of our franchisees. This sets us up for continued growth to help even more families find the right care solutions for their loved ones.”

In Entrepreneur’s continuing effort to best understand and evaluate the ever-changing franchise marketplace, the company’s 42-year-old ranking formula continues to evolve as well. The key factors that go into the evaluation include costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500® in ranking order.

Over its 42 years in existence, the Franchise 500® has become both a dominant competitive measure for franchisors and a primary research tool for potential franchisees. CarePatrol’s position on the ranking is a testament to its strength as a franchise opportunity.

“2020 was a challenging year for everyone, but it was also a year of unusual opportunity,” says Jason Feifer, Entrepreneur editor-in-chief. “Franchises were able to be nimble and innovative, serving the needs of franchisees and customers in ways that will resonate for many years to come. We believe that, when we eventually look back on this time, we’ll see it as a moment when many brands defined themselves for the future.”

The Medicaid Spend Down is the Best Kept Secret in Houston https://carepatrol.com/blog/the-medicaid-spend-down-is-the-best-kept-secret-in-houston/ Tue, 18 Aug 2020 14:23:38 +0000 https://carepatrol.com/blog/the-medicaid-spend-down-is-the-best-kept-secret-in-houston/ The money that the government was providing for retirement was for being self-sufficient and making ends meet. But as the Houston elderly care facilities are experiencing, many elderly people are not able to live by themselves anymore…. who will pick up the tab for that? Is it the Government?

In most assisted living cases the answer would be no. Finding assisted living facilities in Houston can be very difficult especially if there are financial difficulties. Many seniors are living with a small pension and social security. That money is enough to get them by until assistance with daily living tasks is needed. Contrary to popular belief, getting approval for Medicaid assistance does not happen quickly. This is especially true if there are assets. A house, stocks, bonds, and other assets all add up.

With a few exceptions depending if the person in need of care still has a spouse living at home, the government will let you keep just at $2,000 in countable assets. What happens when you need assisted living in Houston and you have assets? There is a term called Medicaid spend-down. If your income is too high to qualify then that income must be “spent down” to qualify to the level that Medicaid accepts.

For example, a person in need of assisted living in Houston may have a small pension and social security but they do not have the amount for the monthly fee needed to pay the facility; there is however $20,000 in savings. There are a few elder care facilities in the Houston area that will accept clients that have an amount to “spend down” and then keep them as clients once Medicaid is approved. Assisted living facilities in Houston that will accept clients and allow them to stay in an elder care residential home are the exception rather than the rule.

Are you looking for the best senior care in Houston but not sure where to start? CarePatrol of Houston can help guide you and your family through this challenging time. Every facility is personally visited by a CarePatrol Senior Consultant to provide choices in senior care facilities that will be the best fit. Each and every senior living facility that is recommended is checked for care and safety violations. A CarePatrol consultant will tour with you at the facilities so you can make sure you or your loved one will be cared for in the manner you desire. Best of all, the personalized service provided by each CarePatrol of Houston’s Senior Care Consultant is free to the family.

CarePatrol Named a Top Franchise for Women by Franchise Business Review

Independent Survey Shows Female Franchise Owners Are Highly Satisfied with CarePatrol’s Performance

CarePatrol, the nation’s largest senior placement organization, was named one of the Top Franchises for Women by Franchise Business Review, a national franchise market research firm that performs independent surveys of franchisee satisfaction.

CarePatrol was among 240 franchise brands, representing nearly 6,000 female franchise owners, that participated in Franchise Business Review’s research on the Top Franchises for Women. CarePatrol’s franchisees were surveyed on 33 benchmark questions about their experience and satisfaction regarding critical areas of their franchise systems, including leadership, training and support, financial opportunity and work/life balance.

“CarePatrol has changed the lives of many of our women franchise owners,” said Becky Bongiovanni, vice president of CarePatrol who owned CarePatrol’s model franchise for several years prior to franchising the concept. “Women currently make up over 34 percent of our owners, followed by couples and men.”

“The franchise industry provides many options to women seeking business ownership on a full- or part-time basis in multiple sectors,” says Michelle Rowan, president of Franchise Business Review. “The number of franchise opportunities can be overwhelming, so it’s critical to examine feedback from other female franchise owners on how well the franchise meets their expectations in terms of support, work/life balance, financial opportunity, and other key areas of business ownership.”

CarePatrol has more than 150 offices in 40 states, with local senior care advisors who work with families free of charge to find quality, top-rated assisted living, independent living, memory care, nursing homes and in-home care. The senior advisors meet with families in person to assess a client’s care level needs, financial needs and general preferred locations before recommending the best and safest care options.

CarePatrol, the nation’s largest senior placement organization, was named one of the 2018 Top Franchises for Veterans by Franchise Business Review, a national franchise market research firm that performs independent surveys of franchisee satisfaction.

CarePatrol was among 250 franchise brands, representing over 26,000 veteran franchise owners that participated in Franchise Business Review’s research. CarePatrol’s franchisees were surveyed on 33 benchmark questions about their experience and satisfaction regarding critical areas of their franchise systems, including training & support, operations, franchisor/franchisee relations, and financial opportunity.

“As a Veteran myself, I am grateful that I was welcomed in by CarePatrol,” said Pat Parise, Director of Operations, CarePatrol Franchise Systems. “Our franchise network has always been passionate about Veterans, and it’s an honor to be listed as a Top Franchise for Veterans as we continue to assist our Veterans as they enter back into civilian life.”

“The reality is that very few of the thousands of franchise opportunities available today are rated highly by their franchise owners,” said Eric Stites, founder and CEO of Franchise Business Review. “That’s the whole reason we do what we do, which is help prospective franchisees understand which franchises the top opportunities are based on the actual performance and satisfaction of franchise owners. The 80 companies named in this year’s report received the highest ratings from the veterans that own them on our independent satisfaction survey.”
