The Powerful Role of Social Workers
Did you know that March is Social Work Month? Social workers take on some of the most challenging issues that face families and communities. They bring a unique skill set, education and hands-on experience to change the lives of many people. Let’s celebrate the role of social workers, their accomplishments, as well as Empower Social Workers, which is the theme of this special month.
Many professionals are opting into a career in social work, one of the fastest growing careers in the United States, with more than 700,000 social work jobs in existence in 2021, which is expected to grow 9% by 2031. While many social workers help clients during challenging times, others focus on conducting research, design systems, plan policies or advocate for improved services for groups of individuals. Specializing to create positive change for a distinctive set of the population or being employed in a specific setting is often a way to maximize the impact of a social worker.
With passion, an innate knowledge of human behavior and a hearty supply of empathy, social workers are able to help people persevere through obstacles like poverty, disability, loss, discrimination, addiction and so much more. They actively help people mitigate crises and serve as a resource to help guide them through the stresses that occur in life.
Social workers play an essential role for adults as they age. As older adults navigate changes in their lives from complex health care needs to financial duress, they may feel lost. Social workers use their knowledge and training to help with care plans and manage older adults’ connected factors like social, physical and socioeconomic concerns that impact their well being.
CarePatrol thanks the amazing social workers who are helping older adults to live their best lives, each and every day. By changing lives and bringing resources to older adults and their families during a time of stress, you’re changing the world, one client at a time!
