Our Spirits Are Strong

Throughout the virus crisis, CarePatrol has had many inspiring examples of serving families, laughing over delivering care packages in full PPE, and supporting seniors in what has been a very stressful time for all of us. Our spirits are strong, and we remain committed to helping seniors and their families navigate the senior living process.

We hear a lot of talk about testing kits and ventilators, but we often forget about the people at the receiving end of those items. “Experts” are making decisions for us, but it is the public and our seniors specifically that bear the cost of this disruption. Today, a senior asked me if the costs of devastating the economy will become worse than those of the virus. This dialogue is important. Seniors (and the rest of us) should not be treated simply as carriers of a pathogen to be locked up until the threat is gone. One of our goals of CarePatrol is to engage with and enlist the input of seniors and their families so they are something other than a passive capacity to keep isolated indoors to help stop the spread of the virus.

We are all making sacrifices with the expectation that those sacrifices will keep us alive, but we also need to be kept “living” and working and interacting and loving each other. In this time of crisis, let’s face the pandemic without giving up our way of life.
